Gabin Drouard
Bio
Gabin Drouard is a University Lecturer in Social Data Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki (since October 2026). He completed his doctoral research at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) in the group of Prof. Jaakko Kaprio, followed by a postdoctoral position in Prof. Samuli Ripatti’s group. He trained in France in statistics for life sciences (ENSAI, engineering degree/MSc) and epidemiology (Université Rennes 1, MRes), and spent an Erasmus semester at Uppsala University, Sweden, at the faculty of Mathematics.
To date, Gabin Drouard has published nearly 30 peer-reviewed papers, including 10 as first author. His research lies at the intersection of molecular epidemiology and biomedical informatics. In particular, he combines family and twin designs with omics data to understand sources of health variation in the population, and the roles of genetic and environmental factors in the biological determinants of health. His work covers obesity, molecular aging, and behavioral and psychological conditions such as depression and substance use. Looking ahead, he aims to further integrate biological and epidemiological data within a social science framework, extending family-based designs to new questions on health and behavior.
